Overview

The DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme offers fully funded Master’s opportunities for students from Sub-Saharan Africa to study in selected African universities.

Funded by the German Academic Exchange Service, the program supports development-related postgraduate studies and aims to strengthen higher education and research capacity across the region.

For the 2026 cycle, participating institutions include universities such as the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (Nigeria), University of Cape Town, and University of Pretoria.

Eligibility

  • Must be a graduate from a Sub-Saharan African country
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree with strong academic results
  • Must have completed last degree within the past 6 years
  • Must demonstrate commitment to development-related work
  • Must meet the admission requirements of the chosen university

Eligible Countries

  • Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, and other Sub-Saharan African countries

How to Apply for DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship 2026
