Overview
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Makerere University provides full scholarships to academically talented young people from Sub-Saharan Africa, enabling access to quality graduate education and opportunities for dignified and fulfilling work. The 2026/2027 intake offers 13 scholarships for Master’s programs at Makerere University Main Campus.
Eligibility
- Refugee or Internally Displaced Person (IDP)
- Young persons with disabilities
- International students
- Young people living in a refugee host community
- Young people from underrepresented ethnic groups in Uganda
- Other Ugandan youth
- Applied for admission to Makerere University 2026/2027
- Completed undergraduate education in an African country
- Experiencing financial constraints
- Not holding any other scholarship
- Not pursuing or completed a Master’s degree
- Demonstrated leadership/community service
- Age ≤35 (≤40 for refugees
- IDPs
- or young persons with disabilities)
- Valid documentation for refugees
- Applied for priority degree programmes
