Overview
Applications are now open for the ISEAS PhD Scholarship 2026 in Singapore. The scholarship is offered by ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute to support outstanding Singapore citizens pursuing doctoral studies in areas related to Southeast Asian studies and social sciences.
The scholarship is tenable at reputable universities in Singapore or overseas and is designed for candidates interested in applied and policy-related research on Southeast Asia. Successful applicants will receive comprehensive financial support, including tuition coverage, monthly maintenance allowance, medical insurance, conference and fieldwork support, and travel expenses where applicable.
The programme aims to develop future scholars and researchers who will contribute to research and policy development related to Southeast Asia.
Eligibility
- 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭:
- Be Singapore citizens
- Have consistently strong academic records
- Be interested in applied and policy-related research on Southeast Asia
- Be applying for or pursuing a PhD in relevant social science fields
- Preference may be given to candidates already admitted into reputable universities

- Cover letter
- Full CV
- Sample of academic writing
- Three recommendation letters
- Academic certificates and transcripts
- Research proposal
- Passport-sized photograph
- Applicants should also include a statement explaining the relevance of their research to ISEAS.
How to Apply for Fully Funded PhD Scholarship in Singapore 2026 | ISEAS Scholarship
Interested candidates should apply online through the Careers@Gov application portal before the application deadline.
Applicants must upload all required documents in the “Resume/Cover Letter” upload section during the application process.
The three referees are required to send their recommendation letters separately to the ISEAS HR department.

The scholarship is bonded. Successful candidates are required to serve a five-year bond with ISEAS after completing their studies.
