Overview
The UBC Public Scholars Award is part of the Public Scholars Initiative (PSI), designed to support doctoral students in connecting their academic research to real-world public impact. The program promotes innovative and collaborative scholarship beyond traditional academic boundaries and enhances career-relevant experience.
Selected scholars can receive funding of up to $10,000 to support research, professional development, and public-focused projects.
Eligibility
- UBC Vancouver or Okanagan doctoral students (PhD, EdD, DMA).
- Students in years 1–5 of doctoral study.
- Must not exceed 48 months of doctoral study by August 31,2025.
- Must be registered in a UBC doctoral program by September 1,2025.
- 6th-year students eligible only in exceptional cases.
- Must demonstrate strong academic achievements and research potential

How to Apply for UBC Public Scholars Award 2026/2027
Applicants must download and complete the PSI Fellowship Application form and follow the official guidelines.
Submit the completed application and CV as a single PDF through the designated online portal.
Supervisors must submit their letters of support separately
